Dance Recital
Here's our little hula girl in her first dance recital! She did an amazing job! No stage fright at all! The video is too short to show how well she really did, but it's a small snapshot. Mele Kalikimaka!

Thanksgiving Week
Madeline had a great Thanksgiving week. We started it off with a weenie roast. We decorated the house for Christmas, she had her Thanksgiving feast at school, and of course we had turkey on Thursday! Then, we went to see Santa. Guess who sat on his lap this year and loved every minute of it?? She also had a blast at the Lexington Christmas parade and tree lighting. It was so nice to be home for so many days to do whatever we wanted!

Halloween!
Madeline got to go trick-or-treating on Friday night with Kylie and Elyse, on Saturday night with Nana & Grandad and on Sunday night with Mama & Daddy! She had a blast with her friends! She also got to meet Baby Dru for the first time. She got tons of candy, and a Chuck E Cheese gift card from Ben and KK. Nana and Grandad gave her bottles for her babies, a memory game, and a Dora book. She definitely enjoyed the weekend!

Fall Fun

Fall Break
We had a great fall break! The week started with Grandad's birthday, then a girl's trip to Great Wolf Lodge. It was so much fun to get some girl time with Nana and Aunt KK! After we got home, we squeezed in some shopping, dance class and a trip to Boyd's orchard with Sophia. Then this weekend, we celebrated Uncle Rich's and Kylie's birthdays. Madeline had a great week!

Fall Festival
We went to Midway on Saturday for the Fall Festival. Madeline had a ball getting her face painted, riding a train, feeding animals and going on her first pony ride. It was a lot of fun, but it was too hot to feel like fall.

Her first bike
Look who got her first bike this weekend! She had great weather to ride in, and she had so much fun!
The dirt pile
Grandad got a big load of dirt delivered this week and Maddie has been having a ball with it! She pretends she is mountain climbing up it, shovels it, rakes it, finds toads, and all kinds of things.

First Day of School!
Our baby started Preschool today. It's hard to believe. She walked right into her class like a big girl and never looked back! When Nana picked her up, Madeline's teacher told her that she was lovely, mature, and was going to be a piece of cake for them! We are so proud of her! Now if she could just be that well behaved at home all of the time!!! :)
The Kissing Hand
The night before Madeline's first day of school, we read The Kissing Hand. Anyone with a child starting school needs this book! Then we traced her hand. I put lipstick on and kissed the middle of it. Then she wanted to do the same! Jerrod and I both wrote her happy notes of encouragement and she put it in her backpack to take it to school with her. It was so sweet! I'm glad we were able to do a special activity to make starting school even better!

Update
We have been really busy lately! Here's an update on Madeline: Since school started, she has been staying with Nana part of the week, and with a new sitter the other 2 days. She is loving it! Her preschool starts next week, and we had her open house today. When her teacher said, "Hi Madeline, it's nice to meet you!" She said, "It's nice to meet you too!" She is such a little adult. She is reading 20 words, and is writing like crazy. She mostly writes her name, Mama, Nana and Daddy. She is all about the toys, and is totally into her friends. Give her a play date or a birthday party to go to, and she's a happy girl. First day of school pics to come soon!

Writing her name
This is Madeline's latest accomplishment. She is one letter shy of being able to write her name! The first week of July, I showed her the "sign in sheet" that I made her. It is exactly like the sheets we use with our preschoolers at school. That day, I did hand over hand with her, showing her how to trace her name at the top and then form the letters in the boxes. The next day, I was washing dishes and she brought the paper to me with her name perfectly traced. Now, she can form every letter pretty well except for e. That is the one we are practicing. But for only being shown once how to write an 8 letter name, that's pretty impressive! She definitely does things in her own time. Miss Independent!
First trip to Gatti Town
Here are pics from Madeline's first time at Gatti Town. She had so much fun that we started calling it "Maddie Town."

First Dentist Appointment
Our girl was an absolute angel at the dentist today! She was so brave for her first dental exam! She loved picking out sunglassess to wear while the light was shining on her. Of course the toy area and treasure box were big hits too. I couldn't have been more proud of her. She did an awesome job. Thankfully, her teeth checked out great!
4th of July
Madeline had a great 4th of July, thanks to help from Ben and KK. Daddy was staying at the hospital with Pa in Louisville. And when Mommy got food poisoning, it was aunt and uncle in to save the day. They babysat and brought Madeline a new toy, new dress, and lots of sparklers. We saved some of the sparklers for Daddy to do with us on Monday night when he got home, so the 3 of us did have a 4th of July celebration afterall! Thank you guys for helping us out, and Pa we hope you feel better very soon!
